Naturally Fight Motion Sickness While Flying

If you suffer from flight induced motion sickness, then you know what a damper it can put on your travel plans. Luckily, there are many easy, natural ways you can fight motion sickness while flying. Here are 3 tips to get you started. 

Choose Your Seat Wisely

Sitting above the wings will actually decrease your chances of having motion sickness. This part of the plan is the most stable, and therefore you will feel turbulence the least. You may need to get to your flight early in order to pick the best seat. It is also helpful to get a window seat. A window seat will allow you to view the horizon. Many people believe that being able to look at the horizon helps your brain adjust to the motion your body is experiencing. 

Eat Light Before Your Flight

Overfilling your stomach with rich or spicy foods will make motion sickness much worse. Eating a very light, bland meal before boarding will ensure that your tummy isn't fighting too many battles at once.

Reading can complicate motion sickness by confusing your brain even more. If you are prone to motion sickness, then the best activity for your flight will be napping. Take a sleep mask to block out light, use white noise and earbuds to cancel out noise and catch up on some sleep. This can be very helpful if you are traveling far and jet lag will be an issue upon landing. Try using natural methods to induce sleep such as taking Tryptophan, Valerian, or using Lavender essential oils. All of these will help you catch a nap naturally. 

Although you may not be able to banish motion sickness altogether, these tips should help you ease the symptoms and survive your flight.
